How to convert PNG or WebP to JPG

  1. Drop up to 20 PNG or WebP images on the box, or tap it to pick them from your phone or computer.
  2. Leave the quality at 92% for a copy that looks like the original, or lower it for a smaller file. If an image has transparent areas, choose the color that fills them: white suits most uploads.
  3. Each image shows its old size, its JPG size and its width and height. Download them one by one, or choose Download all. To get a JPG under a size limit such as 100 KB, run it through Image Compressor next. To put JPG pages into one document, use JPG to PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. Your browser opens each PNG or WebP and saves it as a JPG on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is fine for screenshots, ID photos and documents. The new file is drawn from the pixels alone, so camera details in the original, such as GPS location, are not copied into it.

What happens to a transparent background?

JPG has no transparency, so the see-through parts are painted over with the color you pick: white, black or light gray. White is the usual choice for forms and documents, black suits white logos and light gray shows both dark and light artwork. Images with transparent parts get a note under their size.

Which quality should I pick?

92% is the starting point and looks like the original for photos. Go down to 70 or 80% when file size matters more than perfect edges. Below that, text and thin lines start to blur. JPG is made for photos, and compressing sharp diagrams, charts or text screenshots too hard gives poor results.

Why is my JPG bigger than the PNG?

PNG stores flat colors and sharp edges very efficiently, so a logo, a chart or a screenshot can be smaller as a PNG than as a JPG. Photos go the other way and usually shrink a lot. If a file grows, the row says so: lower the quality or keep the PNG.

Can I convert WebP to JPG?

Yes. Drop the WebP files in the same box. This is the quick fix when a website saved a picture as WebP and a form, an email program or an older app only takes JPG.

How do I get the JPG under a size limit like 100 KB?

Convert first, then open [Image Compressor](/tools/image-compressor), choose Exact KB size and type the limit from your form. It keeps the highest quality that still fits. For a form that also fixes the width and height, use [Photo & Signature Resizer](/tools/photo-signature-resizer).

Can I convert many files at once?

Yes, up to 20 at a time. Change the quality or the fill color and every file is converted again with the new setting. Use Download all to save them in one go.

What are the converted files called?

The same name as the original with a .jpg ending, so holiday.png becomes holiday.jpg. Your original files are not touched.
