Frequently asked questions
How does title case work here?
Every word starts with a capital, except a, an, the, and, but, or, nor, for, of, in, on, to, at, by and as, which stay lowercase unless they open or close the text. Brand names like iPhone and acronyms like USA are left as they are. Text typed all in capitals is treated as shouting and lowercased first, so THE LORD OF THE RINGS becomes The Lord of the Rings.
Is it the same as APA title case?
Close, but not identical. APA capitalises every word of four letters or more and lowercases short conjunctions, articles and prepositions of three letters or fewer. Short words that are not on this tool's list, such as so, yet and via, get a capital here but stay lowercase in APA, so fix those by hand for a reference list.

What are camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case used for?
They are ways to write names without spaces in code and links. camelCase (firstName) is the usual style for JavaScript variables, PascalCase (FirstName) for classes and components, snake_case (first_name) for Python variables and many database columns, and kebab-case (first-name) for URLs and CSS class names.

How are words split for the code cases?
Spaces, hyphens, underscores and punctuation all split words, and so does a switch from a small letter to a capital. XMLHttpRequest becomes xml_http_request in snake_case. Apostrophes are dropped, so don't becomes dont.
Does it work with accented letters?
Yes. Any script with capital and small letters converts, so é becomes É and ж becomes Ж. Urdu, Arabic, Hindi and Chinese have no capitals, so UPPERCASE and lowercase leave them alone, while the code cases still join their words with _ or -.
Is my text stored?
No. The conversion runs in your browser as you type and nothing is sent to a server.
